"Polish for All" is an interactive computer course for learning Polish at the elementary level.
To use this course you need to have the "Language Toolkit Reader" program which is available from Info-Mac mirror sites. To get access to the dictionary and the inflection material you should use the associated databases "Polish Nouns", "Polish Verbs" and "Polish Words". These databases are under development. "Polish Nouns" is already available, but is being further improved. The databases can also be accessed and modified using the program "Verbs and Nouns".
If you are a teacher of Polish you can modify this course using the "Language Toolkit Writer" program to adjust it exactly to your students' needs.
The course consists of regular lessons and some series. At the moment there are two series:
• Countryside - an introduction to the most interesting regions of Poland,
• News - brief news from Poland - an introduction to a "media language".
The series can be more difficult to study than the regular lessons, but you can always look at them later.
• Vocabulary-oriented lessons - introducing commonly-used phrases (as in the "Greetings & Farewells" lesson from this book),
• Topic-oriented lessons - usually focussing on a picture, a movie or a story,
• Pronunciation lessons.
Note: Parts 1 to 9 of "Polish for All" are part of a separate program "Polish for Everyone 1.3" <ftp://ftp.funet.fi/pub/mac/appl/polish-for-everyone13.hqx>.
Please, remember to put the font Geneva CE to your Fonts folder and the Polish keyboard layout to your System suitcase (choose Polish layout from the Keyboard Control Panel after restarting your Macintosh).
